Spearheading Initiatives to Closing the Subnational Disparities Gap: Infrastructure Working Group G20

Posted on June 13, 2022June 13, 2022 by adminiif

June 2022 – In the midst of global economic recovery, Indonesia plays an active role as the host of 2022 G20 Presidency. G20 which consists of 20 countries, represent more than 80 percent of world’s GDP, 75 percent of international trade and 60 percent of the world’s population, is a necessary annual event for Indonesia to convey its main agenda. PT Indonesia Infrastructure Finance (“IIF”) highly regards this opportunity to participate in a series of events and is involved as an agent to showcase the private sector participation in the sustainable infrastructure development in Indonesia.

Being one of the Indonesian delegates, IIF participated in the 3rd Infrastructure Working Group Meeting. In this event IIF became one of the panelists during the discussion of enhancing social inclusion and addressing subnational disparities, specifically addressing subnational disparities through local infrastructure.

Numerous case studies were attractively elaborated by IIF and very informative. In addition to the portfolios IIF have funded, the perspective highlighted on this discussion was how IIF projects lessen the subnational disparities through its social and environmental due diligence.

Social and environmental due diligence is a crucial part of IIF’s operation and evidently impacted greatly the ecosystem of every project. This shows how a resource-abundant nation like Indonesia, have different challenges in infrastructure building due to its archipelagic state. By showcasing how IIF can help disparities, hopefully can attract or at least open the minds of investors that Indonesia is a great destination for investing.

Furthermore, IIF exhibits how every project has an aligned purpose with the Government agenda and proven to be beneficial commercially and socially.

“G20 events is very crucial. Despite the challenges these past two years, Indonesia still shows its resilience and better yet, potential is still high for domestic development. IIF cherishes event like this, because not only we can share our credentials, but we endorse what our country is capable of in the future.” as explained by Mr. Reynaldi Hermansjah, CEO of IIF.”
