Summary
IIF is supporting a port development project under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) scheme in Illangata Village District, Anggrek sub-district, North Gorontalo Regency. The existing port has been operated since 1997, located around 65 km from the Gorontalo City Center. Currently, the port functions as a collecting port to serve loading and unloading goods national and internationally. Objective of the project is to improve the port capacity by developing additional port facilities and port area expansion within two project phases. This project is expected to enhance the economic growth in Gorontalo while also enhance industry growth in Indonesia specifically outside Java island. IIF’s Social and Environmental Due Diligence process categorizes the project as Category B where the risks and impacts can be mitigated by adhering to IIF Social and Environmental Principles. This IIF participation is part of the continuous support to port infrastructure sector in Indonesia by providing project-based financing.
