Summary
In December 2024, IIF signed an agreement to finance the development of a 125 lps Water Treatment Plant (WTP) that will fulfill domestic and industrial needs (10% and 90% respectively) in Dumai City. This WTP uses the hollow fiber nanofiltration (HFNF) method to treat river water with an overall efficiency of 80–90%. The operational activities of this WTP include water intake, water treatment, water storage in a reservoir, and water distribution. This investment will provide a clean water to 12,500 households in Dumai City. This project also contributes to increasing the coverage of clean and safe water supply for the community by 0.15% and 0.20% of the 2024 national target.
IIF’s Social and Environmental Due Diligence categorizes this investment as a Category B (medium risk) project, where the social and environmental risks can be managed through mitigation measures that adhere to IIF’s Social and Environmental Standards.
