Summary
In December 2021, IIF agreed to support the development of 2 X 5 MW Koro Yaentu Mini Hydro Power Plant (MHPP) located in a rural area of Pamona Timur sub-district, Poso Regency, Central Sulawesi Province. The MHPP is a run-off river hydroelectric system where the plant harvests the energy from flowing water of Koro Yaentu River to generate electricity in the absence of a large dam and reservoir. The project signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with PLN in October 2020 and considered as part of government commitment to accelerate the renewable energy mix in Indonesia, targeted to reach 23% by 2025. By design, power generated from the MHPP will be connected through 20 kV distribution lines with 19 km length to the PLN’s Taripa sub-station located in Pamona Timur sub-district. The Social and Environmental Due Diligence (SEDD) report categorize the project as a Category B Project. IIF’s participation in this project shows its continuous contribution to the acceleration of electricity infrastructure development in Indonesia especially from renewable energy part.
