Summary
In December 2021, IIF agreed to provide a Senior Term Facility Loan to support the development of 2 X 1,75 MW Mini Hydro Power Plant (MHPP) located in South Bolaang Mongondow Regency, North Sulawesi Province. The MHPP is a run-off river hydroelectric system where the plant harvests the energy from flowing water of Sinandaka River to generate electricity in the absence of a large dam and reservoir. The project signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with PLN in 2011 and considered as part of government commitment to accelerate the renewable energy mix in Indonesia, targeted to reach 23% by 2025. Under the PPA, the plant will support PLN Suluttenggo region that covers the area of Gorontalo with a connection directly to local demand of South Bolaang Mongondow through Kotamobagu branch. The plant will be connected to Kotamobagu Branch, particularly the Molibagu sub-Branch. Molibagu sub-Branch is currently supplied by Diesel Power Plants. The Social and Environmental Due Diligence (SEDD) has been conducted by independent consultant and categorize the project as Category B Project. IIF’s participation in this project shows its continuous contribution to the acceleration of electricity infrastructure development in Indonesia especially from renewable energy part.
