Summary
In December 2021, IIF signed an agreement to provide a Corporate Loan Facility to a private company specialized in Renewable Energy, especially solar power. The company also have experience in telecommunication industry, especially for 4G Base Transceiver Station (BTS) infrastructure development. IIF agree to provide IDR 340 Billion revolving working capital to construct 4G BTS towers in 1,795 points located in 3T (foremost, outermost, and disadvantaged) areas in West Papua and Central-West Papua. Moreover, IIF plan to provide USD 5.1Million (IDR 75 Billion equivalent) for the company’s capital expenditure to acquire an operating asset i.e. the 5MW Solar Power Plant (PLTS) located in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. IIF participation can be considered as significant contribution to provide massive BTS provision in 3T areas so that Indonesia will be digitally connected and hence improve the standard of living.
Furthermore, the plan to finance PLTS Kupang is part of IIF continuous support to the acceleration of electricity infrastructure development in Indonesia, especially from the renewable energy sector. In term of Social and Environmental Aspect, the project is categorized as Category B. The project has potential limited environmental and social risks and impacts. Those risks and impacts can be readily addressed by adhering to the IIF Social and Environmental Principle.
